SouthPark Magazine Garden Graces

Earlier this summer I worked with two blonde bombshells + Scott Clinton on photography + Jami Svay on hair and makeup to capture some fun summer looks on location at the always beautiful Daniel Stowe Botanical Gardens.  It was so fun to pair one of the season's hottest trends, All Over Floral, with such a harmoniously coordinated background.  Minus the oppressive thick summer in the south heat, the pictures make me want summer to go on forever... Three Floor + Self Portrait

The weather in Charlotte has been so amazing all weekend I have spring fever big time.  I have not seen the little nubby pointed daffodil green leaves sprouting from the ground yet, but I've heard there have been sightings.  On Saturday, I clocked some great mileage with my group early in the morning at the Anne Springs Close Greenway.  If you live in the Charlotte area and have not yet been, you really must go.  Miles and miles of trails, horses, activities for the family and more all year round. To me, it is the prettiest place to run in the area, and it is an easy peasy drive from center city.  I hit the pavement again on Sunday for another round of double digits just because I couldn't say no. Shorts and no sleeves.  

Weather this good and running in it makes me crave summer time and want to wear hot little dresses.  Three Floor and Self Portrait are two of my favorite brands for that.  If you live in the QC Poole Shop and Coplon's both started carrying the Self Portrait line a little over a year ago. Winter Coat: Camel Couture

Typically I am not much drawn to large logos, but I think Gucci is really having a moment.  The bag featured in our editorial, with it's bold gold double G's doesn't read as overt as I think most logo lathered bags do.  The structured rectangular shape of this bag reads polished and powerful to me.  It kind of reminds me of one that belonged to my Grandmother.  Fashion is so cyclical.  Especially the classics.  And so, I REALLY want this bag.

Your Head Looks Weird

If you live in the Charlotte area, next time you are at SouthPark Mall or in the area, be sure to snag a copy of SouthPark Magazine.  I very worked hard on this one, along with an amazing team of individuals, businesses and boutiques, and I am flattered, humbled and excited to be a part the May issue.  The below picture is one in the series of images where I get to show off some really amazing clothes from a few of my favorite local boutiques.  My oldest son, Hank, now 7, saw the below image come up on my facebook page.  I couldn't help but chuckle at his reaction to seeing me dressed up like this.  (Let's be honest, I am a working mom of two active boys, the only time I look like this is for a photo shoot.  The next closest I come is on Sunday for church, date night or when I am meeting clients, but it is a loooong way off from this.

Hank: Mommy, is that you?
Me: (Excitedly) Yes!  What do you think? 
Hank: I don't get it.  it's weird.  Your head looks weird.  You look like you are someone else.
Me: Okay, well, does the rest of my body look like me?
Hank: Yea.
Me: Well, then do you at least like my outfit?
Hank: Why would I like it?!  I'm not a girl! (Runs upstairs to yell at little brother Worth for singing Let It Go again).

Ahh.  The honesty of a child.
